COCO’s has three talented artisans who will be bringing their creations to our shop with some great gift giving ideas.
First up is ALUCIE WEAVES on December 5 & 6.
alucie weaves : hand woven wall hangings
Toronto based artist Ana Marques came to the world of weaving through a love of screen printing and an interest in knitting. Experimenting with colour, pattern and texture through these disciplines laid the ground work for a deeper meditation through the prism of the loom. Weaving has magnified the possibilities of fabric and texture as pure art outside of basic utility and these unfettered possibilities have been a boon to imagination.
Then on December 12 & 13 we have ATELIER J with stunning contemporary jewellery
Micheline Roi’s first love was classical music. When writing symphonies no longer distracted her from the call of design and the joy of working with her hands, she enrolled in George Brown College’s part-time program for jewellery design. The skills picked up in GBC’s program along with years spent in the museums and fashion districts of Montreal, New York, San Francisco and Toronto, informs her bold, colourful, and contemporary statement jewellery. Micheline believes in jewellery as personal expression, urging her customers to wear pieces that are as beautifully unique as they are. Atelier J website
And finishing things off are the brilliant designs of UNDERACHIEVER INDUSTRIES on December 19/20.
UnderAchiever Industries is a design studio located in Toronto, Canada. We create small run accessories for folks who care about beautiful design, sustainability, fair labour practices and locally made products. As Creative Director, Miriam Grenville’s background as a textile designer and artist informs both her design aesthetic and business ethics. Deciding to sell online was an easy choice, as it keeps prices reasonable and allows us to utilize local factory sewers whenever possible. www.underachieverindustries.com
